Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Mohammad Dar, MD, affectionately known as “MoDar” by his friends and colleagues, was named C3’s Chief Medical Officer in December 2023.

Dr. Dar previously served as the Senior Medical Director at MassHealth (Massachusetts Medicaid/CHIP), guiding delivery system reforms to further the program’s focus on population health and accountable care. 

He is also the previous Chair of the national Medicaid Medical Directors Network, an umbrella organization that provides a nexus for senior Medicaid clinical leaders to discuss their most pressing needs and share best practices.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Dar served as the Acting Senior Medical Director for Special COVID-19 projects, where he set up systems to improve infection control protocols at nursing homes across Massachusetts and was the clinical lead for the statewide vaccination program for those homebound. He was also deployed by the Health and Human Services Secretary as the clinical lead for the response team and as Chief Medical Officer at one of the state’s hardest hit sites.

Previously, Dr. Dar has worked on implementation of the Affordable Care Act at the Obama White House Office of Health Reform, volunteered with public health initiatives in rural Uganda, and served as a Visiting Fellow on Innovation at the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission.

Dr. Dar is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his residency training at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is a board-certified internist practicing in the Boston VA Healthcare System.
